This will be a short note and its only purpose is to express my sincere gratitude to my family, my friends, my clients, my readers and last but not least, my personal assistant.

This is to sincerely thank you.

Starting My Own Thing

2013 has been a major milestone in my life. Exactly one year ago, 4 months after starting my blog, I went into business for myself.

Starting my own thing, that I truly believe in because it matters to me and because it has an impact in the world, has been the best career decision of my life. I don’t regret one single moment of the past year.

It All Belongs to the Journey

All the struggles, all the smiles, all the fear and angst, all the new friends, all friends we have lost, all the travels and all the anxiety and love. Everything belongs to the journey.

Without every single one of these moments, I would not be where I am today.

Without you, I would not be where I am today and I am sincerely grateful to have you and every single circumstance in my life. Without all of this, I would especially not be who I am.

The past 12 months have been a personal development journey like no other. I have stumbled over many road blocks, fallen down many times.

Thanks to you, I had the courage and energy to get up again every single time. That’s the proof that without you, I would probably not be where I am today.

The Meaning of Life

In July 2013, one of my best friends passed away at the age of 28. It was when I hit rock bottom. It has also been the defining moment when I truly realized what matters in life.

It’s when I decided for myself to take out a moment of every day and be grateful for all the things I have and stop rushing through the day, week, month, year and eventually through life. I still don’t do it every day but I do it considerably more than ever before and when I do it, it makes me pause, look in the mirror and focus on what’s truly important to me.

Life is not meaningful if we rush through it, arrive at the end and can only remember the bad moments. I don’t know what the purpose of life is for every single human on earth but I know it’s certainly not to be miserable.

I think Seth Godin expresses really well, what I try to express here, in his book, “The Icarus Deception”. It’s the passage where he talks about what advice he would give to his younger self.

Things Are Going to be Fine at the End

“But the one thing I wish I had known then was that whatever happens, things are going to fine in the end, that the pain is part of the journey, and that without the pain there really isn’t a journey worth going on.

No, it doesn’t all work, but you always get to dance. Win or lose, you get to play. I would tell myself not to put so much emotional baggage on every project and every interaction. The goal is to keep playing, not to win.

At the end of a project, the end of the day, and the end of the game, you can look yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that at least you go to dance.”

-The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin

This is to wishing you a wonderful Xmas and a brilliant start into a prosperous 2014.

May the force be with you on your journey to meaning, mastery, brilliance and everything else you are pursuing.
